CLEAN METADATA / THE DETAILS
A few clear
ground rules.
Use Clean Metadata to create copies of files with supported metadata removed. Review the results before you rely on them.
Last updated: November 2, 2026.
Your files and your choices
Only process files you have permission to modify. You retain your rights to your files; the site does not acquire them by processing a local copy. Keep originals, especially files with signatures, content credentials or archival value.
Scope of the tool
Supported formats are JPG, PNG, WebP and basic PDF cleanup. Detected unsupported, encrypted, signed or malformed files may be refused. A successful result means the supported cleanup completed, not that all personal or identifying information is gone.
PDF cleanup removes common document metadata and is not redaction. Hidden content and embedded data may remain. Image cleanup does not remove visible content or invisible pixel watermarks. Removing EXIF orientation or ICC profiles can affect display.
Review your output
Open cleaned files in your normal viewer and inspect both the report and the content. Do not rely on this tool alone for legal, evidentiary, archival or other high-stakes requirements. The software is provided as available, without a promise that every input or browser will work or that a file will become anonymous.
Availability and changes
The tool is free and has no imposed daily quota. Browser resources still limit what it can process. Features, supported formats and this explanation may change. There is no service-level or permanent availability commitment.
